Flying Insect Control Header

FlyThe presence of flies is both undesirable and a health hazard. Flies are disgusting creatures because of their habits and methods of feeding.

They feed off food waste, compost heaps and animal excrement, crawling over and feeding on it. They then fly over to our plated meals or food preparation areas and begin to indulge.

Flies feed by regurgitating digestive juices over their food to dissolve it. At the same time they bring up a few pathogenic organisms, which they stamp in, transfering the bacteria they have picked up on their feet and body hairs onto our food. They suck up the resultant goo, and defecate over your feast for good measure.

Prevention

The Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995 makes it a criminal offence if flies are not controlled, and so Rodent Service can offer a range of methods to provide adequate protection against flying insect access.

Our highly trained technicians can supply and fit a full range of 'PestWest' electric fly control units. These machines are approved to European electrical standards and offer many innovative features combined with unrivalled reliability. Service & maintenance contracts are available and can be tailored to suit individual requirements.

We can also supply and fit plastic strip curtains and fly screens to doors and windows, supplementing these physical control methods with insecticidal spray treatments if appropriate.

CockroachIn any environment where food is stored, prepared or eaten, insect pests will be found. Such situations range from a small cafe or restaurant to a large arable or livestock farm.

It is vital that insect pests are controlled in these environments. It is both common sense and in many cases a legal requirement to both monitor, and if found, control insect pests to ensure that damage and contamination does not occur.

There are many hundreds of species of insect pests, each with their own unique biology and behaviour. It is necessary to have a knowledge of the specific species in question before any attempt to control them is made. Therefore professional monitoring and control methods are essential in order to obtain the desired result.
